"When the Chinese Communist Party backtracks on its promise of autonomy to Hong Kong, teenager Joshua Wong decides to save his city. Rallying thousands of kids to skip school and occupy the streets, Joshua becomes an unlikely leader in Hong Kong and one of China's most notorious dissidents."
After working with Director Joe Piscatella on #chicagoGirl, we connected again to begin work on his next documentary project focusing on the Umbrella Revolution of Hong Kong in 2014. The  graphics package consisted of a main title Sequence, lower thirds, identifiers, internal cards, and credit roll. All of the elements needed to work together to create a cohesive body of work that is cohesive throughout the production.
Joe wanted the piece to feel very editorial, so I combined digital photography with animated redaction lines (in a tip of the hat to China's obsessive global censorship efforts) using a bright yellow spot color as it is the official color of those organized in the Umbrella Revolution Movement. This redacted line and yellow spot color set the basis and tone of the rest of the graphics.
